Nowgamer has the story that the latest title in the Mass Effect series may be coming out in Spring of next year, according to a source inside BioWare, who gave this quote hinting at a possible release period:
"If I was you, I’d get to playing the Mass Effect trilogy before next spring."
We know that BioWare has been working on the next Mass Effect title for a while now as it’s already been reported that, “It was in playable form”. But aside from the fact that a new Mass Effect game will definitely not star Commander Shepard, details are fairly scarce.
Of course E3 is just around the corner, which would be a perfect time to make a splash with the next big entry in the sci-fi franchise. Yes,Dragon Age will be there too, but as the Dragon Age info is starting to come in huge waves, it’d be really nice to be surprised by a big title we’ve seen nothing of so far.
Of course we have no idea what to expect, so it leaves a lot for speculation. Shepard won’t be the “star,” but could he/she be in it? Will it have multiplayer? Will that multiplayer be required to get the best ending (God, I hope not)? Can you play as other races?
Will it take place so far outside of the first trilogy that the events won’t have much of an impact? Because I imagine with thecontroversial ending of Mass Effect 3, BioWare may not want to deal with the ramifications of any of those endings since fans didn’t seem to like them even with an “extended cut”. Personally, I’d love to see a prequel that focused on Saren and his indoctrination because I think that’d be a fascinating story to play through.
What do you think, GameSided readers? Ready for a new chapter in the Mass Effect franchise? What should it be about? Should you be able to play as other races? Let us know your thoughts in the comments?
