Mass Effect 4 Major Elements and Details Possibly Leaked via Survey

Mass Effect 4 Major Elements and Details Possibly Leaked via Survey

Major details about the next Mass Effect's story and setting appear to have been leaked via a survey.

Details about the upcoming Mass Effect title from BioWare appear to have been leaked ahead of any official announcements that are set to be made (presumably in June, at E3 2015) via a survey.
Dragon Age: Inquisition was leaked in the same exact way right before it was officially announced, so there's a good chance this is real.
Despite the fact that the text appears to be professionally written, we advise readers to take this with a grain of salt and treat it as a rumor until further verification is provided.
Here were the details provided in the survey, which was leaked by a reddit poster.
We do not expect BioWare and EA to confirm or deny whether any of this is true.

The Next Mass Effect Context:
The next Mass Effect game takes place in the Helius Cluster (a cluster of 100s of solar systems in the Andromeda Galaxy), far removed by time and space from Commander Shepard’s heroic acts and the final events of the Mass Effect trilogy. You are a pathfinder, a combat trained but un-tested explorer leading an expedition into the Helius cluster to establish a new home for humanity. As you explore this sprawling series of solar systems (over 4x the size of Mass Effect 3), collecting resources and building colonies, you will encounter the savagery of untamed lands in the form of cut-throat outlaws and warring alien races. To survive and colonize the wild reaches of space, you will need to grow your arsenal, your ship, your crew and make strategic (and often uneasy) alliances to fight against increasingly menacing foes. Along the way, you will encounter the remains of a once powerful and mysterious alien race, the Remnant, whose forgotten technology holds the key to gaining power in this region of the galaxy. As you uncover who the Remnant were, and the mysteries their ruins contain, you are drawn into a violent race to find the source of their forgotten technology that will determine the fate of humanity.
Collect Resources to Fuel your Growth:
Scour solar systems and planets within the Helius Cluster to find valuable resources and blueprints of long forgotten alien technology that will allow you to craft better equipment and weapons, such as improving your leg armor to allow you to jetpack jump, or upgrading your cryo-beam (laser cannon) to target enemies or do area damage around you to clear out close threats. As you build your arsenal and resource infrastructure, you will be able to explore deeper into the increasingly dangerous and resource-rich solar systems of the Helius Cluster.
A Capable Crew:
Throughout the story, you will recruit seven distinct crew members to fight by your side. Each crew member has a unique personality and specific abilities that open up strategic options as you choose which two of them to bring into each mission. For example, Cora has the ability to deploy a biotic shield that protects everyone in the bubble while still allowing you and your squad to fire out of it. Your crew will grow alongside you as you explore the Helius Cluster, and you can choose how you upgrade your crew’s weapons, gear and abilities to increase their individual combat effectiveness. Create the perfect squad to react to any situation and to support your preferred gameplay style.
Your Crew, Your Story:
Your crew members aren’t merely hired guns – they are part of the living universe in the Helius Cluster that develops in response to your actions and choices. Increase each crew member’s loyalty by pursuing missions that are important to that specific character. For example, when a Krogan colony ship has been stolen by one of the outlaw factions leaving the colonists stranded without resources to survive, your Krogan squad mate, Drack, is determined to strike out against them. If you take the mission and help him track down the outlaws’ hideout to return the ship to its rightful owners, Drack’s loyalty toward you and your squad will increase and Drack will unlock a brand new skill tree.
Explore each individual’s backstory and develop your relationship with them through conversations and unique missions. True to Mass Effect, what you choose to say will directly affect your crew’s loyalty and relationship with you, and will open up different conversations and narrative opportunities at the end of the game depending upon how you approach each encounter.
Deployed Strike Team Missions:
The Helius Cluster is 1000s of light years across, and you can’t be everywhere at once. As you develop more colonies, resource bases and settlements, you have to be able to keep them safe. Spend resources to recruit mercenaries and develop an AI controlled Strike Team that you can deploy to take on randomly generated, time-sensitive missions. Strike Team missions take many forms, including settlement defense and Remnant artifact recovery, which will take real-time to complete. Send your Strike Team out on a mission while you continue playing the main game and they will return, 20 – 30 minutes later, having gained rewards such as XP, currency and equipment based on the success of their mission. Spend money and resources to train your Strike Team and acquire better gear for them, which will increase their success rate and allow them to take on more difficult missions for greater rewards.
Active Strike Team Missions:
When you encounter a Strike Team mission in the Single-Player mode, you can leave your Strike Team at their base and decide to tackle the mission yourself with your Multiplayer roster of characters. You also have the option of tackling the mission by yourself, or recruiting up to three friends to play with you. The more friends you bring, the greater the challenge and the greater the reward. These missions will play out using the Next Mass Effect’s multiplayer Horde mode (more details on this later). These missions will include a variety of thematically appropriate objectives, like defending a Settlement against Khet attacks, or recovering a Remnant artifact off of a planet before an outlaw gang gets there first. By taking an active role in strike team missions, you can earn special Single-player rewards in addition to the usual multiplayer specific characters, weapons, weapon mods, and pieces of equipment which can be customized between missions. Additionally, players who join another person’s Strike Team mission will receive bonus in-game currency and multiplayer XP for helping others with their missions.
Multiplayer “Horde” Mode:
The next Mass Effect’s “Horde” multiplayer pits you and up to three of your friends against waves of enemy troops on various battlefields throughout the galaxy. Players fight together to survive increasingly difficult enemy attacks and accomplish objectives, like disabling a bomb near a colony base or assassinating a target. Progress through multiplayer missions to gain XP and earn new multiplayer specific weapons, characters, weapon mods, and pieces of equipment, which can be customized between matches. Multiplayer play will also earn you APEX funds (in-game currency), which can be used to purchase items and gear in the Single Player game.
Establish Settlements:
Search solar systems for rare habitable planets to establish a settlement that could serve as a base for humankind’s new home in the Helius Cluster. As you build permanent settlements, you will make strategic choices on where to focus your new base’s resources. For example: Recon Settlements will clear fog of war from the space map and give the player more strike team missions to choose from, while Mining Settlements will periodically supplement the player’s supply of crafting materials.
Dialogue:
Building upon the rich history of strategic dialogue that has defined the Mass Effect series, you can make meaningful choices in every conversation you have with characters that impact the way your game evolves. The next Mass Effect adds deeper control over your conversations through a greater ability to interrupt and change the course of the conversation as it is happening. During certain conversations, you will be able to take action based choices, such as the option to pull out your gun and force someone to open a door instead of convincing them to do it through conversational guile. Action based choices give you more options for how you approach dialogue with characters in the game and can lead to more extreme outcomes on the story as it evolves around the decisions you make when interacting with a huge cast of NPC characters.
Seamlessly Travel Through the Next Mass Effect Universe:
As you pilot your space ship, Tempest, across the 100s of solar systems that are seamlessly connected in the next Mass Effect, you will encounter new planets filled with valuable resources, intelligent life, conflict, and alien technology that all give you opportunities to increase the power of your character, your ship and your team so that you can build them into a force that perfectly suits your gameplay style. Transitions between activities, like flying your Tempest (space ship) across a solar system to land on a mineral rich planet, then jumping into your Mako (land vehicle) to explore the surface of planet, all happen smoothly without loading screens.
Customize and Share Your Experience:
Discover new things in Andromeda Galaxy, like alien artifacts and natural wonders, that serve as trophies and decorations that you can use to modify the look of your character, Tempest (Space Ship) and Mako (land vehicle). Customize the way your squad and your character look with clothes and aesthetic modifications that you unlock throughout the game. Photos you take from the far reaches of the galaxy can be used to decorate your starship or sold to certain characters.
Remnant Vault Raids: Find and activate Remnant Monoliths to unlock Remnant vaults. Explore abandoned Remnant ruins to find and locate a powerful artifact, but once you remove it you will trigger the vault defenses that will arm traps, activate defense robots and even change the architecture of the vault itself to stop you from escaping. Fight your way out of the vault and you will be rewarded with valuable loot, including powerful gear, crafting resources and Star Keys that can be used to unlock massive orbital facilities in space that grant permanent stat bonuses.
Optional Elite Remnant Vault Raids are scattered around the Helius Cluster located in special orbital facilities that are unlocked by Star Keys. Similar to the standard Remnant Vaults, you enter them to retrieve a special artifact which will trigger the vault defenses that arm traps, activate defense robots and change the architecture of the vault itself to stop you from escaping. However, Elite vaults ratchet up the difficulty of the encounter with increasingly powerful defense robots and traps, as well as roaming outlaws and deadly Khet patrols that are also in search of the elite artifacts. Elite Remnant vaults will test the limits of your combat and puzzle solving acumen, but with greater difficulty comes greater rewards. Gain rare loot, narrative acclaim and huge rewards for completing these daunting challenges.
Khet Outposts:
As you explore planets throughout the Helius Cluster, you will encounter Khet Outposts. These outposts are optional combat experiences where you enter the outpost and fight off waves of enemies. Destroy Khet outposts to earn XP, rewards and thwart their growing power in the region. Your allies will reward you with praise and increased narrative options as you fight to remove the Khet presence from the region.
Drive and upgrade your Mako (land vehicle):
Explore the surfaces of 100s of planets in the Helius Cluster in your versatile land vehicle, the Mako. Whether you are looking for a place to set up a colony, searching for a Remnant vault or attacking a Khet Outpost, you will enjoy getting there in your Mako. Equip and upgrade your Mako in dozens of ways, like adding turbo boosters, upgrading your shield generator or adding a Hostile Detector to your radar to create the ultimate planetary exploration vehicle. Finally, get your Mako looking the way you want with a custom paintjob!

'Mass Effect 4' developer reveals customization stats from 'Mass Effect 3'

Aaryn Flynn has revealed some new customization statistics in regards to "Mass Effect 3." According to a report from Game Informer on May 16, the general manager of the Edmonton and Montreal studios stated that only 50 percent of players decided to change the look of Commander Shepard. Furthermore, the numbers differ dramatically based on the gender selected.

42 percent of players who went with the male version of Commander Shepard decided to keep the generic look, which was advertised in trailers and other types of media. On the other hand, 80 percent of users who decided on the female iteration of the main protagonist chose to change her facial features. Bioware never officially provided a generic look for Commander Shepard as a female until "Mass Effect 3" where fans have to vote on a set of preset models.

At PAX East 2013, a Bioware representative also revealed a somewhat interesting statistic as 82 percent of players opted to select to play as a male instead of female. The number may inferred that most of the fan base are male players. You can find an image showing the official models for the male and female versions of Commander Shepard from the "Mass Effect" Facebook page with the photo attached near the top of this article.

In the upcoming tentatively-titled "Mass Effect 4," players will be controlling a completely new character. Bioware stated in the past that the storyline involving Commander Shepard is completed as the protagonist won't be the star of the upcoming game. The plot of the fourth main game won't be set directly in the same period as the previous three titles as well.

"Mass Effect 4" is currently around 50 percent complete in terms of development. The software product could be shown off next month at E3 2014 during Electronic Arts' press conference. The publisher has six unannounced games, along with other known titles, that will be presented at the event.

Mass Effect 4 (Mass Effect: Contact)possibilities before E3 news

Mass Effect 4 possibilities before E3 news

With all of the excitement involving E3 2014 and known games that are heading for reveals at the annual event, one game that you may have forgotten about in recent weeks is Mass Effect 4.

We know that the game is in development from series developers Bioware, but so far there is no official Mass Effect 4 release date and Bioware has also said that the game may not even be called Mass Effect 4 with the trilogy seemingly over after the end of Mass Effect 3.
With the game already deep in development, it’s a safe bet to assume that we are going to get a major Mass Effect 4 news reveal at E3 2014 and fans have been getting excited on social boards with the possibilities that could be on offer with a new game.
Without spoiling, we all know that the Mass Effect 3 ending left a number of unanswered questions. For the next game, would you like Bioware to focus completely on the story mode again, or would you like to see a bigger emphasis on the multiplayer this time around?
We have seen with other games in the genre that multiplayer is now starting to take focal point. Titanfall doesn’t even have a single-player campaign, while the upcoming and highly anticipated Destiny will feature multiplayer gameplay that focuses on social interaction.
Could Bioware be planning the same social aspects into Mass Effect 4 with regards to the relay system collapsing? Perhaps you would rather see DLC characters eliminated as a factor for Mass Effect 4, with Bioware putting even more effort into delivering another epic campaign.
E3 2014 is just around the corner and Mass Effect 4 or whatever the game will be called will most likely be a big highlight of the event. Let us know what you would like to see from the next game and what Bioware should and shouldn’t do.

Mass Effect 4 might actually be called Mass Effect: Contact

Mass Effect 4 might actually be called Mass Effect: Contact

We’re pretty certain that the next installment in Bioware’s popular sci-fi rpg franchise won’t be called Mass Effect 4, but we didn’t have an alternative name for it until now. This might change however as recent rumors coming from a well known industry insider have hinted at a possible title.
Ahsan Rasheed sparked the rumor earlier during a conversation he was having with another infamous insider who goes by the name of shinobi602. The two were apparently playing Wheel of Fortune on Twitter when Rasheed said that the next Mass Effect title will be called _ _ N T _ _ T. He also mentions a few of the letters that do not appear in the title to make it easier to guess.
A bunch of users on Twitter seem to think that the teased word is ‘ Contact ‘. I have to agree as it sounds like the most probable option, and it also has relevance within the Mass Effect universe. The name hints at the First Contact War, an event that takes place before the Mass Effect trilogy so we might be looking at a prequel here.
According to the game’s timeline, the First Contact War took place in 2157, three years after Commander Shepard was born. The conflict marks humanity’s first violent encounter with an extraterrestrial species, the Turians. The war culminates with the siege and occupation of Shanxi, the first human world to fall to an alien race.
If Mass Effect: Contact will be set during the First Contact War than that means Commander Shepard will not be making an appearance, just as Bioware indicated some time ago. Unfortunately, it’s very likely that we won’t be seeing other familiar faces from previous games either as most of them weren’t born by 2157, or were very young.
A previous report suggested that the next Mass Effect title will arrive in Spring 2015, we’ll probably find out more at E3 2014 where the game is rumored to make an appearance. Aside from the next Mass Effect, insider Ahsan Rasheed also mentioned a few other games that will be presented during this year’s event.

Xbox One And PS4 Mass Effect Trilogy Listings Appear On Chilean Retail Site

The Mass Effect trilogy of games may have a new-gen re-release in its future, if a listing on a Chilean retail site is to be believed.

NeoGAFer Rushersauce recently noticed listings for Mass Effect Trilogy on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the retail site, ZMart. You can find the listing for the PlayStation 4 version of the game here, and the Xbox One version here. Neither listing offers a price or release date, but it does allow customers to sign up to receive a notification when the games are available.

Earlier this month, the Last of Us' PlayStation 4 edition similarly leaked on Sony's online store.

For a list of previous-gen games we'd like to see appear on new-gen consoles head here.

Mass Effect 4 Saved Game Transfer Hype Sees Trilogy Take Price Tumbles

Throughout the Mass Effect trilogy, the players were given the ability to bring over their saved game to each new title. This is great feat considering that Mass Effect is a choice-based action role-playing game.

With Mass Effect 4 currently in production, many fans have been looking to get the whole Mass Effect trilogy. This is so that they could play it all over again and hope to complete it in time for Mass Effect 4.

Retailers have been notified of this growing trend and started putting the entire trilogy up on sale. GameFly is letting go of all three titles for only $39.99. This means that each game costs $14 each which is a great deal for the fans to enjoy.

On the other hand, it seems that the save file transfer feature won’t be available for Mass Effect 4. This is due to the next-gen consoles which is not compatible with the current gen consoles. On top of that, Mass Effect 4 will start on a whole new adventure with a new protagonist. The old Commander Shepard has been retired by Bioware.

All in all, Mass Effect 4 is going to be the biggest game to arrive on both the Xbox One and PS4. As such, there is no wrong to playing the entire trilogy all over again in a bid to relive the Mass Effect moment before starting on a new adventure.

Rumor: Mass Effect 4 Coming In Spring 2015

Nowgamer has the story that the latest title in the Mass Effect series may be coming out in Spring of next year, according to a source inside BioWare, who gave this quote hinting at a possible release period:

"If I was you, I’d get to playing the Mass Effect trilogy before next spring."

We know that BioWare has been working on the next Mass Effect title for a while now as it’s already been reported that, “It was in playable form”. But aside from the fact that a new Mass Effect game will definitely not star Commander Shepard, details are fairly scarce.

Of course E3 is just around the corner, which would be a perfect time to make a splash with the next big entry in the sci-fi franchise. Yes,Dragon Age will be there too, but as the Dragon Age info is starting to come in huge waves, it’d be really nice to be surprised by a big title we’ve seen nothing of so far.

Of course we have no idea what to expect, so it leaves a lot for speculation. Shepard won’t be the “star,” but could he/she be in it? Will it have multiplayer? Will that multiplayer be required to get the best ending (God, I hope not)? Can you play as other races?

Will it take place so far outside of the first trilogy that the events won’t have much of an impact? Because I imagine with thecontroversial ending of Mass Effect 3, BioWare may not want to deal with the ramifications of any of those endings since fans didn’t seem to like them even with an “extended cut”. Personally, I’d love to see a prequel that focused on Saren and his indoctrination because I think that’d be a fascinating story to play through.

What do you think, GameSided readers? Ready for a new chapter in the Mass Effect franchise? What should it be about? Should you be able to play as other races? Let us know your thoughts in the comments?

E3 2014: Mass Effect 4 Release Date Announcement Imminent For PS4, PC And Xbox One Rumored As Bioware Private Beta Test Continues!

Bioware has confirmed that "Mass Effect 4" was being worked on and that the "Mass Effect 4" Beta in now on its trial run as the Mass Effect 4 release date being announced on E3 2014 rumors are popping up.

Rumors are popping up all over the web such as Twitter and Facebook that the Mass Effect 4 release date is going to be announced at E3 2014 but while the game is on a private beta test, Bioware hasn't given a response as to whether the Mass Effect 4 release date would be announced at E3 2014 or not.

According to an article by Alan Haslow of Motoring Crunch, a recent tweet from Aaryn Flynn the GM for BioWare's Edmonton & Montreal studios, revealed that Mass Effect 4 is coming ever closer to completion and he said that he has been playing Mass Effect 4. He said that the game was beautiful, ambitious and fresh, while at the same time remaining recognizable and fun.

According to Alan Haslow, what "Mass Effect" fans can get from this statement is that the game developers have been testing "Mass Effect 4" and it's been a month now since this statement was made and there still hasn't been any further updates about the game.

"Mass Effect 4" will have some graphical enhancements and new dynamics in the game as it will run on the "Frostbite 3" game engine. The "Frostbite 3" game engine is the game engine being used for "Dragon Age 3."

Gamers have started to revisit the "Mass Effect" trilogy and are playing it again from the beginning. Retailers have picked up on this and have started to reduce the price of the trilogy in the hope of selling more before "Mass Effect 4" hits the shelves.

Gamefly is offering a good deal as gamers can pick up the "Mass Effect" trilogy for $39.99. This means that each title costs less than $14 each. Gamers who are wondering what all the fuss is about with "Mass Effect 4" may want to take advantage of the price drop.

There is a great deal of talk about the save files and what influence this could have on "Mass Effect 4." Transferring save files are important to "Mass Effect" as each decision and its consequence carries over from the previous game to the next game.

This presents an conundrum to next-gen gamers if "Mass Effect 4" hits the Xbox One and the PS4 as the "Mass Effect" trilogy is not available for the PS4 and Xbox One. According to Monica Walken of Motoring Crunch, next-gen console gamers may have to pay for save game transfers, but this is just speculation.

Aaryn Flynn however tweeted that next-gen versions of the "Mass Effect" trilogy are being talked about but no confirmation if "Mass Effect" will be ported to the Xbox One or the PS4.

Mass Effect Trilogy could appear on Xbox One and PS4 says BioWare

BioWare are considering upgraded versions of the first three Mass Effect games, with improved textures, and 1080p and 60fps visuals.

As far as anyone knew BioWare is busy working on Mass Effect 4, with the first hints about the new game having been made last year.

But after answering a question on Twitter it seems that they may also be considering bringing the original three games to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

‘We have discussed that internally. If we can put solid plans together we’ll share. Great to hear you’re keen’, said BioWare Edmonton and Montreal general manager Aaryn Flynn.

There is of course already a Mass Effect Trilogy for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, which was released in late 2012.

Although not improved in any way from the original versions it did go to the effort to create a PlayStation 3 version of the first game just for the compilation (although it was also made available separately).

Even so, bringing all three games to the new consoles will still require quite a bit of work – especially if they’re improved in the way the Twitter fan wants.

If it did happen though it would encourage BioWare to import saved data into the new game, although it’s not clear how relevant that would be as one of the few things we know about Mass Effect 4 is that it won’t star Commander Shepard.
